Dear Parent,

My name is Mircea Cojocaru. I am the proud father of Alexia and Yuna and the husband of Ivy. I am honored to share the story of Cognitive Champions with you.

Our Beginning

Cognitive Champions was born in 2016, shortly after I moved to Hong Kong to start a family. I quickly noticed that the local education system focused heavily on rote learning, with little emphasis on physical development.

As a former athlete and coach with over 22 years of experience in business and sports coaching, I have had the privilege of working on five continents, from coaching tennis in Tunisia and snowboarding in Japan to business coaching in Europe. Through these diverse experiences, I developed a deep understanding of different cultures and their unique approaches to learning and growth.

When I arrived in Hong Kong and my first daughter was born, I saw a pressing need for children to develop their cognitive functions, thinking skills, and creative potential. Sports are scientifically proven to enhance cognitive function, so I began blending sports with various productivity tools from my organizational culture background and physical activity.

I soon realized that this approach was benefiting not only my kids but also my students, and they were thriving. This realization, coupled with my personal experiences in raising a family, led to the creation of Cognitive Champions.

My Background

My sports background began at a young age as the son of a PE teacher and a ski coach. I played competitive tennis as a child and competed in snowboarding, where I claimed the national champion title multiple times. I have coached snowboarding for 14 seasons and hold an ISIA Level 1 Snowboard examiner/instructor certification.

Basketball has been my lifelong passion. I have played throughout my life, mostly at the regional level, as my other sports took up most of my competition time. Nonetheless, I became a certified coach in 2019 and have been integrating the game with Cognitive Champions.

Before coming to Hong Kong, I founded High Mark Business SRL and worked as an Organizational Culture Consultant with international schools and other top-tier companies from 2009 to 2016. I helped companies coach their top performers to reach their full potential and cultivate an environment of inclusion and passion. I hold an Economics Degree specializing in Tourism & Services and an MBA in Business Administration from the University of Transylvania Brasov in Romania.

Thank you for being a part of our journey.

Warm regards,

Yuna, Alexia, Ivy & Mircea Cojocaru

Our Philosophy of
Perseverance and Progress

Our Way of Always Moving Forward

Our Values

The Spirit of Perseverance:

  • At its core, perseverance embodies a spirit of determination and resilience. It encourages individuals to give their best effort regardless of the challenges they face. This attitude fosters a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Continuous Improvement:

  • A fundamental aspect of this philosophy is the concept of continuous improvement. This involves making small, incremental changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in all areas of life, from work to personal habits.

Embracing Failure:

  • Failure is viewed as a natural part of the learning process. Instead of being discouraged by setbacks, the mindset encourages viewing failures as opportunities for growth and learning. This helps build resilience and adaptability.

Discipline and Consistency:

  • Emphasis is placed on the importance of discipline and consistent effort. Success is often the result of sustained effort over time, rather than short bursts of activity. Developing a routine and sticking to it is crucial.

Community and Support:

  • The spirit of perseverance is often fostered within a community. People encourage and support each other to persevere and succeed. Building a supportive network can provide motivation and help individuals stay committed to their goals.

Mindfulness and Focus:

  • The practice of mindfulness, being fully present in the moment, is integral to this philosophy. By focusing on the task at hand and giving it your full attention, you can achieve better results and reduce stress.

Purpose and Meaning:

  • Having a clear sense of purpose and meaning in life is essential. This mindset encourages individuals to pursue their goals with passion and dedication, finding fulfillment in the process rather than just the outcome.

Adaptability and Flexibility:

  • Life is unpredictable, and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances is key. This involves being open to new ideas, willing to change plans, and staying flexible in the face of adversity.

Balancing School and Practice:

  • While dedication to practice is emphasized, the importance of rest and academic responsibilities is also acknowledged. We strive to instill these principles in our students, and by doing so, we ensure they balance their efforts in both school and practice. This approach promotes long-term success and prevents burnout.

Gratitude and Positivity:

  • Cultivating a positive attitude and practicing gratitude are important components of this philosophy. Appreciating the small successes and maintaining a hopeful outlook can keep motivation high and foster a sense of well-being.

By adopting these principles, our students can develop a more resilient mindset, achieve continuous improvement, and navigate life's challenges with greater determination and grace. Our program provides practical experiences and thoughtful reflections that inspire students to embrace a proactive and positive approach to personal and professional growth.
